Baba and Boo - Summer collection

As you all know, we are massive Baba and Boo fans in this house! Out of all the cloth nappies we use, around 95% are Baba and Boo!

Their amazing new summer collection of fabulous prints has JUST been released and I feel it's only fair if I send you to see how AWESOME they are!

Bee was lucky enough to be sent the Seagulls print ahead of time to review and we were instantly in love with it!

Let me tell you a little bit about a Baba and Boo nappy! - they are suitable from 8/9lbs right the way up to 35lbs (or potty training) they do the whole lot! (we started when Bee was 6 months and they fit him beautifully.

They are completely waterproof on the outside and come with 2 microfibre inserts to use, we use both inserts as Bee is a gold medalist in the pee department and generally we get 3-4 hours before we need a (pee) change.

They have a popper system, which may look intimidating but it really is simple and helps you get the perfect fit for your baby as they grow. It's nice and snug around the legs and  comes up the back nicely - we have never had any poop explosions out of the top.. or come to think of it in 2 months we have never had a poo'mergency (touch wood).

No chemicals or nasties are used in these gorgeously soft and comfy nappies so you don't need to worry bout that!

One thing I love about Baba and Boo is that no matter how many times I've washed my nappies they

still look as new as the day we got them! - We do use liners to save from the majority of poop but as a first time I was concerned that they would be stained but I can tell you hand on heart that my nappies are still crispy white! We do sun them every chance we get though.

We adore our growing selection of Baba and Boo and would definitely recommend this brand of cloth nappies to anyone and everyone - it helps that the owner Eve is a sweetheart and her team are so friendly and approachable.




-TEN- Mother and Baby Skincare - Review

This month is the launch of -TEN- mother and baby skincare products over in the UK.

-TEN- Baby Gentle Massage Oil -

I've personally not used much on Bee's skin other than baby lotion and Coconut oil in the past if I wanted to do baby massage so I wasn't familiar with other products.
 This oil containing sweet almond oil is incredibly light and has a faint pleasant smell to it.
It glides on over Bee's skin and is easily absorbed which I liked as one thing I don' like in skin products is if they are too greasy and stay on you and get on clothes.

I love that it has an easy to use mess-free pump! Alot of other oils out there come in bottles with screw tops and the bottle becomes oily and hard to handle, but this bottle is nice and simple. It also has a very classic and welcoming design, it is something I would be drawn to if I saw it on a shelf.

-TEN- Baby Cleansing Foam -

I honestly love this product, I use it on both of my children (8 months and 4 years). It comes in a little pump which is extremely handy at bath time juggling two kiddies!
The foam is easily dispensed and my 4 year old loves using it to wash with.
 It goes on to the skin so smoothly and it smells really nice too.
 It contains natural oil extracts from Calendula and Chamomile and helps retain the skins natural moisture balance.
I would definitely get this foam again. We use it just before bed as a calming routine.

-TEN-  Hydration Body Cream (for mum) -

I passed this on to my mum to review as she uses a lot of creams and she said she loves it. Using it twice daily so far its easy to apply, soaks into her skin easily and is not greasy (providing you don't put too much on at once)

The Hydration Body Cream contains a combination of essential vitamins (B5, E and F), Wheatgerm oil and plant extracts, including camellia olefera seed oil, avocado oil and cacoa butter which nourishes and restores the skins natural balance, which can be affected by hormonal changes during pregnancy.

My mum has also said that the fragrance of the cream in unique and pleasant, it also does not interfere or clash with her normal fragrances she wears.

All in all, with the products we were sent to test we were very impressed and they are something we would be happy to continue using in day to day life.

Britax 'Bin The Booster'

BRITAX URGES PARENTS TO BIN THE BOOSTER AND TRAVEL SAFELY THIS SUMMER
BRITAX partners with Emma’s Diary to advise parents about the benefits of high-backed boosters in Group 2-3

This week, leading child safety brand, BRITAX, has launched a nationwide initiative designed to educate parents about car seat safety in Group 2-3 and to highlight the dangers of using booster cushions with older children. The ‘Bin the Booster’ campaign urges parents to opt for high-backed boosters with side impact protection to ensure little ones are safe and secure on their travels in the lead up to summer and beyond.

The current law says that children must travel in a car seat until they are 135cm tall or approximately 12 years old, whichever comes first. With this in mind, many parents opt for a simple booster cushion to help lift their child and ensure the car seat belt sits across them at the right angle. However, BRITAX found that approximately half (49%) of seat belts used to secure child seats may be fitted incorrectly*. They are often twisted, too high, or fitted around the seat and not the child.

Booster cushions also do not offer children any side impact or head protection, which is why BRITAX now only sells high-back boosters, which offer deep protective side wings and head support. Despite this, booster cushions are still sold because it is not required by current EU safety standards to conduct tests for side collisions, even though around 1 in 4 (25%) car accidents are from a side impact crash**. However, if the regulations change to include side impact testing, BRITAX experts do not believe that any new booster cushion would pass. 

Recent research from consumer champions, Which?, reveals that 55% of 4-12 year olds are using a backless booster seat when travelling in a car and that 22%*** believe they offer the same protection as a high-backed booster seat. Like BRITAX, Which? experts recognise that this simply isn’t the case and so have also urged parents to switch their booster cushions for a high-backed option in a bid to keep children as safe as they can be whilst on the road.

Product developers at BRITAX design their products to provide protection during traffic collisions from every angle of impact. This protection includes deep side wings, head support and a v-shaped backrest which grows with the child to ensure comfort and security at all times. These are all safety features evident on BRITAX’s latest KIDFIX XP SICT car seat, which has set new safety standards within the industry with its energy absorbing seat belt pad, the XP PAD, and new adjustable side impact cushion technology (SICT) for superior side impact protection. Also, to ensure the seat is perfectly in place every time, the XP range also uses ISOFIT technology to connect directly and rigidly to the ISOFIX fittings in the car.

BRITAX products surpass legal safety requirements and set high safety standards in the international market – and the company is not alone in its belief that booster cushions are not the safest option for children. 

To help further educate parents about safety in Group 2-3, BRITAX has teamed up with leading parenting advice programme, Emma’s Diary, to run a week long campaign dedicated to getting out and about with children safely this summer. The week will include tips on giving your car seat a health check and what to look out for when purchasing a new Group 2-3 seat. The campaign, which will run from Monday 7th July, will also include a live Q&A on the Emma’s Diary Facebook Page with BRITAX safety expert, Mark Bennett, who will be on hand to answer any questions parents may have on the topic.
